BIOGRAPHY

Originally from Westport, Connecticut, Carl relocated to Los Angeles from New York City with his film/TV director wife.  He holds a B.A. in Literature from Denison University and M.F.A.s in Dance from Sarah Lawrence College and Musical Theater from NYU. He danced professionally in New York for several years and later choreographed musical theater.

His experience in dance and theater informs his approach to painting, as his work ethic is disciplined and attuned to the nuance of color, light, and composition.

Carl lives in Hollywood in a 1920’s Spanish Revival with his wife, with whom he has two adult children, an agricultural entrepreneur and an employment lawyer.  He is an avid gardener and a jazz enthusiast.
